For more than two decades, I have been immersed in paint color, renovation, and design.

My name is Susan Grant, and I am the Paint Color Specialist, 3D Render Artist, and Interior Decorator behind Color Envy Design. I work with busy homeowners locally on Long Island and remotely nationwide who want clarity and confidence before making major design decisions.

My background is not theoretical. It is lived.

For 17 years, my husband and I rebuilt our South Shore home room by room while raising two boys and a few rescue dogs along the way. We handled demolition, construction, finishing work, painting, and design ourselves. Living through that level of hands on renovation shaped the way I approach every client project today.

I understand what it feels like to stand in the middle of a home, surrounded by samples, second guessing every decision.

During those years of rebuilding, I realized how much of the design industry relies on opinion. Too often, homeowners are told to trust someone’s “good eye for color” without measurable context. I wanted something more precise. I wanted a method that eliminated guessing and reduced expensive mistakes.

That drive led me to combine color science, architectural context, and 3D visualization technology into a structured process.

Today, my work centers around two core principles.

First, paint color should be selected using data and fixed finish analysis, not instinct alone. Lighting conditions, surrounding materials and personal taste all influence how a color will read. Ignoring those factors leads to frustration and repainting. I  use a fact based, patented color system that does not rely on subjective undertones. 

Anyone that tells you they have "a good eye for color" doesn't mean they are qualified when it comes to architectural paint color consultations for an entire house.  If they are not using fact-based system, believe me they're just guessing at what they're suggesting and when it doesn't look like they expected, they don't have the tools to fix it without going back and spinning a deck and eyeballing it.  Not the way I approach architectural paint color and finish selection at all.

Second, design decisions should be visualized before they are executed. Through 3D renderings and space planning, my clients can see layout options, color concepts, and styling choices before anything is purchased or installed.

This approach allows homeowners to move forward with confidence instead of hesitation.

My clients are creative and discerning people who simply do not have the time or desire to navigate complex design decisions alone. They want collaboration, not dictatorship. They want professional guidance without losing control of their own home.

Outside of client work, I am still hands on. I still paint. I still rearrange. I still analyze paint colors in every space I walk into. Design is not just my profession. It has been woven into my life for decades.
